Dear Sweet Souls, “Wherever you go, there you are,” says Jon Kabat-Zinn. This sentiment has been an affirmation to my yoga practice over the years: be in the present moment with this body, this thought, this feeling, this situation…just as it is. I have come to know that the practice of yoga doesn’t stop when I step off my mat or leave my studio, it’s a life practice. I take my practice wherever I go, whether I’m interacting with my children, enjoying an evening stroll, or navigating through a difficult situation. The essence of my practice is in my breath and in my heart. There was even a time, amidst many suggestions to open a yoga studio, in which I truly felt that my “studio” was in my heart center, not in a particular geographical place. Even after opening Integration Yoga Studio, I still found myself teaching all over Toledo, making it crystal clear to me that my “studio” travels with me, regardless. My heart-centered “studio” will be traveling with me into some new adventures. Prior to having children I taught as a special education teacher for a number of years. It was actually during that time that I discovered yoga as an essential life practice for me. This fall I will be returning to the classroom, teaching first grade at Imagine Madison School of the Arts in downtown Toledo. Integration Yoga Studio will continue to offer classes through September 11th, then will be closing. I will continue to teach yoga in the Toledo Area and would like to invite you all to consider joining me for classes at the following locations:
Harmony in Life: Wednesday evenings (We are consolidating the 5 and 6:45 p.m. classes and are in the process of picking the best starting time for most. Please RSVP by August 1st with your preferences.)
Toledo Botanical Garden: Mondays 6-7:15 p.m. You will be able to stay informed about my class schedule, workshops and events at the same website for now: www.integrationyogastudio.com. I will continue to offer private sessions, yoga birthday parties, corporate classes, and classes at libraries and hospitals when available. To help you stay connected with Integration Yoga Studio’s fine instructors, let me know if you would like for me to pass on your contact information to them so they can keep you posted about their offerings. It has been an honor and pleasure to serve our community at Integration Yoga Studio. The experience has been amazing in so many ways and I have you all to thank for co-creating something larger and more wonderful than what 4 walls can hold. You have all contributed to its positive feel and to the many shared moments of awakening, bliss, belonging and healing. I feel blessed to continue to serve our community as a yoga instructor and as a teacher of first graders, who will get to practice yoga, too! Namaste,
