Jenn was an elementary special education teacher when she started practicing yoga 12 years ago and found that the benefits helped reduce her physical and mental tension not only in class, but also in her classroom and daily life. Ultimately, her love for teaching and yoga converged and she began teaching yoga and eventually opened Integration Yoga Studio.

Jenn received her yoga teacher certification at Bhumi's Yoga and Wellness Center (www.bhumiyoga.com) which is recognized by the Yoga Alliance, an organization that sets standards for teacher certification programs. Her teacher, Bhumi, was a Yoga Teacher Trainer at the Kripalu Ashram, under the tutelage of Yogi Amrit Desai.  Her on-going training is a dynamic integration of the formal and organic teachings of her many “teachers”.  Her “teachers” in the broadest sense of the word, include the protagonists, writers and interpreters of ancient texts; nature; challenging life situations; as well as little known and internationally recognized yoga instructors.  Jenn is inspired by the symbiotic relationship between what is learned “on” and “off the mat”.  She strives to create an experience for her students that allows them to make their yoga practice relevant in their daily lives.

Jenn teaches Hatha Yoga to a wide range of practitioners; believing that yoga is for “every body”.  Jenn’s classes incorporate flowing vinyasas in addition to themed instruction around physical alignment principles as well as the teachings from the Yoga Sutras and Life.  She gears her classes toward students' needs and interests and welcomes people of all ages (kids to seniors), backgrounds and abilities (from simple modifications to work with people with special needs). Her teaching style includes principles and methodology from various Hatha Yoga traditions including: Ashtanga, Kripalu, Iyengar and Bikram.  Specialty workshops focusing on body image, Chakras, chanting, partner yoga, inversions, laughter yoga, among others, are Jenn’s passion.  Jenn also volunteers her time teaching meditation techniques to people who are recovering from various forms of addiction at Racing for Recovery (R4R) Meditation Meetings (www.racingforrecovery.com).

As a former special education teacher, Jenn has met the growing interest in bringing yoga and meditation practices to area schools.  She has worked with students who have multiple disabilities in the Sylvania School District.  She has also trained teachers at Maumee Valley Country Day School in techniques that are now being integrated in the Lower School’s daily curriculum.  Ottawa Hills Fit Club integrated yoga and meditation classes at Integration Yoga Studio into their program.  Teen mothers have also benefited from Jenn’s teachings at Polly Fox Academy.
