Spaces and Structures for Health and Empowerment * 20 CEUs recognized by Yoga Alliance Friday, December 4 6 - 10 pm Saturday, December 5 11 am – 7 pm Sunday, December 6 9 am – 5 pm Ground Yoga in Play to Successfully Teach / Share Yoga with Kids This (20-24 Hour) Training for yoga teachers and parents, teachers, counselors, care-givers, health and para-professionals with some yoga training and regular yoga practice who desire to share / teach yoga to kids. Learn fun and effective ways to design and present yoga to children at home, school, yoga studio and beyond. This training offers a template for how to map out class series and build individual lessons that transform yoga practices into playgrounds of self-discovery. Inspire and support our youth in the development of important life skills such as mind-body awareness, connectedness to inner wisdom and resources, physical fitness, emotional stability, authentic self-confidence and the ability to internally self-regulate through the playful exploration of yoga themes such as breathing, alignment, focus, flexibility, kindness, teamwork, resilience, finesse and so much more.  Instructor: Leah Kalish, MA, is an educator, yoga teacher, and national speaker / trainer for health and empowerment through yoga and creative play. As former Program Director of Yoga Ed., she co-created all Yoga Ed. curriculums, trainings and products. Intention: Provide a process and template for you to be able to design and build engaging and empowering yoga playground classes/sessions for kids that progressively develop physical, mental, emotional, social skills and health. Learn to: • Express, Support and Sustain Yourself taking Your Yoga into the World • Engage and Empower Children • Access and Implement Kids’ Yoga Resources Creatively • Plan Theme-based Classes that are Focused, Fun and Meaningful • Design Metaphors; Make-up Games; Create Handouts and Projects • Deepen Relationships with Yourself and Your Students
This Training will explore everything you need to Build Your Own Yoga Playgrounds 1. Clarity about Who You Are and What You Want to Teach: • Knowing Your Passion, Purpose, Personality • Believing in Your Creativity, Caring, Leadership • Willingness to Look at and Work with Yourself • Alignment with a Clear and Inspired Intention - BE – DO – HAVE 2. Knowledge / Experience of Yoga and an Understanding of What is Developmentally Appropriate for Your Students: • Understanding Child Development • Awareness of Learning and Behavior styles • Accommodation for Multiple Intelligences • Yoga Training: philosophy, alignment, safety, sequencing 3. Creativity and Resources: • Awareness of and Access to yoga and educational resources. • Willingness to Be Creative, make up games, handouts, experiments, etc • Ability to design theme – based sessions • Understanding of Emergent Curriculum 4. Relatedness: • Ability to hold space and boundaries safely • Willingness to be present and responsive in a yogic way allowing alive learning to take priority over the planned lesson • Understanding / Implementation of compassionate mirroring • Facilitation of student growth toward awareness, health, empowerment and responsibility.
