I employ drawing, printmaking, sculpture, installation, and visual performance to create experiences that are about physical and emotional communication. Through all media, I am seeking a balance within familiar forms, texture, and compositional harmony. My recent works are relief prints. Wherein, I am most interested in the physicality of carving and the improvisational possibilities of printmaking. I see this process as a direct extension of drawing and collage, utilizing monoprinting, multiples and trace monotype techniques. The finished prints are a result of the stress I have imposed onto the paper and the culmination of layered imagery. Ryan McCullough was born and raised in Bethel, Ohio. Attending Wright State Universities Fine Art program, he concentrated in the areas of Printmaking and Sculpture. Internationally exhibited and active in the Dayton Area art scene, McCullough works across many media including drawing, printmaking, sculpture, video, visual performance and installation. He is currently an adjunct in the Printmaking Department at Stiver's School for the Arts.
